Über uns

Herman Desserts is a Belgian company based in Ostend, specialising in mousses and bavarois since 1988.

Herman Desserts has been around since 1988. Starting as a caterer's shop in the Vindictivelaan in Ostend, Herman Roobroeck and Pasca Smet have developed their business into a dessert factory that has made chocolate mousses its core business. With an average annual turnover of around 5.5 million, this is a success to say the least and an example for many young entrepreneurs. With a product characteristic of Belgium, Herman Desserts keeps the product alive in supermarkets all over Europe. Given that Herman Desserts mainly works under Private Label, they mainly operate out of the lee. Still, chances are you have their own chocolate mousse in your fridge. With customers like Albert Heijn, Delhaize, Colruyt, Okay, Jumbo, Spar, Inter-Marché, Carrefour etc., they dominate the artisanal chocolate mousse shelf in the Benelux. But supermarkets in Switzerland, Ireland, UK, Germany and France also go for their excellent products. This has been produced all these years from their site in Ostend. To give you an idea: every year, around 8 million chocolate mousse portion packs leave Ostend for various warehouses in Europe. That's roughly 150,000 in a week. Chocolate mousse by itself is a simple dessert. At Herman Desserts, they always work from a classic recipe, but their technical innovation allows them to offer a product that keeps longer than the mousse people make at home. No preservatives are used for this either, which makes them unique in Belgium as a dessert producer and extremely suitable for the dairy shelf. The combination of artisanal character and long shelf life is appreciated by their customers. Furthermore, Herman continues to focus on product innovation every year. Over the years, several mousses have already been used in production and for in/out projects, especially during Easter and end-of-year weeks. Think salted caramel mousse, mascarpone mousses, fruit mousses, etc. Furthermore, they have also recently successfully developed 2 vegan chocolate mousses, which can currently be found in several supermarkets in Belgium and the Netherlands and have been rewarded with numerous awards
